I want to express our appreciation for D&R Demolition’s outstanding performance and the important role that it played in our redevelopment project.
The Westgate Redevelopment was a complex project from beginning to end due to the project being phased to keep our tenants and shopping center in continuous business. The phasing dictated that tight performance windows and parameters for all trades, especially demolition as it came at the end of the project.
The complexity of the demolition portion was compounded by staggered starts to accommodate moving tenants, sharing a tight site with other trades, severe cold, and additional scope of work. However, D&R Demolition incorporated these burdens to your performance without complaint and went on to complete the expanded job scope and still meet our original deadline and our budget. We remain truly impressed by the professionalism and coordinated execution that D&R Demolition brought to the job as it is due to these traits that the hurdles were surpassed and our goals were met.
Ultimately, in any construction project the contractor’s performance is the developer’s performance. Our success is based upon our reliance on strong companies like D&R Demolition.
Thank you, Don, for bringing all of your experience, planning, and hard-work to our project. I look forward to the next opportunity to work together.

D&R Demolition completed the demolition on the Westgate Village Shopping Center, Phase 2. The demolition consisted of three concrete, steel and masonry buildings (one 3-story building and two one-story buildings). The size of the three buildings combined was approximately 337,000 sq. ft. with an additional 25,000 sq. ft. of basement area. As bid, the demolition schedule was for a 2 ½ month duration which was completed on time by D&R Demolition. The site was well managed and all equipment was kept in good working condition. D&R Demolition salvaged much of the material and kept the site well organized throughout the process.
Thank you for your efforts and we hope to work with you in the near future.

I would like to state for the record that D&R Demolition performed in a professional and workman-like manner during the demotion of the Wal-Mart store in Bowling Green, Ohio. Particularly, I want to note their excellent attention to safety and housekeeping during the time that the new store was active and the work was being performed in close proximity to the public.
I would recommend D&R as a demolition subcontractor for future work with the Pike Company as well as other contractors.

Following the fire at the Clermont on July 13, 2005, D&R Demolition inquired about the demolition job. I had not really made the decision to hire D&R, when on July 19th the Clermont started to collapse and threatened to fall on an adjacent building. That afternoon, I gave D&R Demolition the job over the phone.
At that point, D&R stopped another job, pulled a crane from that job, by night fall moved their equipment in, and by just before midnight had the portion of the Clermont imperiling the neighboring structure down. D&R placed plywood on the roof of the neighboring building to protect it from falling debris. On the other side of the Clermont, the next building butted right up against the Clermont. D&R brought the Clermont down with no damage to that structure. As I recall, the Clermont, a 20,000 sq. ft. apartment building, was down, hauled off, and basement back filled in about 6 days. To my knowledge, everyone – the city and both neighbors were happy with the work. I would eagerly recommend D&R Demolition.

As a commercial realtor, I came across properties that may have some buildings that are in need of being torn down. In 2005, one such property, the former Days Inn in Defiance, Ohio, was in need of being removed for future development. D&R Demolition was hired for the asbestos abatement and the demolition of the two-story, 65,000 sq. ft. building which was completed on schedule as agreed upon. D&R did an excellent job and I would recommend them to future clients.

R & M Co. is a commercial real estate developing and holding company located in northwest Ohio. In 2002, R & M Co. engaged D&R Demolition to demolish and remove structures including foundations of a 1000,000 sq. ft. livestock yard facility which included a house, a large block show arena, multiple livestock barns and other structures. D&R Demolition completed their work in a timely and professional manner and in full compliance with our contract. We recently completed the first stage of developing this property and the excavator found the sub-surface conditions to be completely free of unexpected materials. R & M Co. would readily consider engaging D&R Demolition for any other demolition projects it may encounter in its future.
